Brake pads are life-critical and must be treated with caution.
Most cars adopt the front disc rear drum brake structure, in general, the front brake shoes wear relatively quickly, the rear brake pads are used for a relatively long time, in the daily inspection and maintenance should focus on the following aspects:
1. Check the brake shoes once every 5000 kilometers under normal driving conditions, not only to check the remaining thickness, but also to check the state of brake pad wear, whether the degree of wear on both sides is the same, whether the return is free, etc., and the abnormal situation must be dealt with immediately.
2. Brake brake pads are generally composed of two parts: iron liner plate and friction material, and the shoe blades must not be replaced when the friction material part is worn out. For example, the front brake shoes of the Jetta car, the thickness of the new plate is 14 mm, while the limit thickness of the replacement is 7 mm, including more than 3 mm of iron liner thickness and nearly 4 mm of friction material thickness. Some vehicles are equipped with a brake shoe alarm function, and once the wear limit is reached, the instrument will alarm to replace the shoe blade. The brake pads that have reached the limit of use must be replaced, even if they can be used for a period of time, it will reduce the effect of braking and affect the safety of driving.
3. When replacing, replace the brake pads provided by the original spare parts, only in this way can the brake effect between the brake pads and the brake discs be the best and the wear is minimal.
4. When replacing the brake pads, special tools must be used to push the brake sub-pump back. Do not use other crowbars to press back, which can easily cause the brake caliper guide screw to bend and make the brake pads jammed.
5. After replacing the brake pads, be sure to step on the brakes a few feet to eliminate the gap between the shoes and the brake discs, resulting in the first foot not braking, prone to accidents.
6. After the brake pads are replaced, it is necessary to run in 200 kilometers to achieve the best braking effect, and the newly replaced brake pads must be driven cautiously.
